Rain Postpones Tri-County
Spring Nationals to Thursday, April 10; Smoky Mountain Still
a GO!
The
third time will be a charm for the Old Man’s Garage Spring
Nationals Series by Schaeffer’s Oil at Tri-County Race
Track, but due to a major storm system that is still moving
across the Southeast, track promoter Ray Cook has been forced
to postpone tonight's event yet again to its new date of Thursday
night, April 10. This will set up for three great races in the
North Carolina/Tennessee area next week, as the World of Outlaws
Late Models Series will sanction a pair of shows on Friday,
April 11 at Duck River (TN) Raceway Park and at Tazewell (TN)
Speedway on Saturday evening, April 12. Both venues are part
of the Southern Nationals family of tracks.
The Saturday night, April 5 Spring Nationals Series program
at Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, Tennessee is still
a go, as the storm system is scheduled to move across the region
and be out of the area by Friday evening. The event will pay
$6,000 to win for the Spring Nationals Late Models, while the
American Modified Series and Limited Late Models will be the
supporting divisions tomorrow night.
The Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, Tennessee will host
the tour for Round #3 on Saturday night, April 5 paying $6,000
to win / $500 to start - a race which is presented by East Tennessee
Auto Outlet. In addition to the Ray Cook-promoted tour, the
American Modified Series will also be in attendance paying $3,000
to win and the Limited Late Models will race for $1,000 to win.
In 2013, Tommy Kerr of Maryville, Tennessee claimed the Spring
Nationals victory at Smoky Mountain in the Super Late Models
over Jonathan Davenport and Vic Hill while Bryan Barber of Buffalo,
Kentucky claimed the AMS-sanctioned Modified win.
On Saturday, April 5 at Smoky Mountain Speedway, the pit gates
will swing open at 1:00 pm and grandstand/tier parking gates
opening at 4:00 pm with driver's meeting slated for around 6:00
pm and hot laps will follow. Adult general admission is $20.00
with children 6-11 being $5.00 and children five and under admitted
